The gardens, once dated and worn, now boast a vibrant, modern coastal planting palette, breathing new life into the property’s front entry and surroundings.
Modern Coastal Planting Palette
With Kirra’s beachfront location presenting challenges such as strong coastal winds and salt spray, we carefully curated a planting palette designed to thrive in these conditions. The hardy plant species we selected not only withstand the elements but also deliver a modern coastal look that perfectly complements the oceanfront lifestyle.
Plants such as Rhaphiolepis spp, Juniperus spp and various sculptural succulents were chosen for their resilience and aesthetic appeal, creating a lush, yet low-maintenance landscape that will continue to flourish in the demanding coastal environment.
A Nod to the Pandanus Palm
One of the key elements of this project was the removal of a large Pandanus palm, which had caused damage to the property’s infrastructure due to its extensive root system. To maintain the tropical feel that this iconic tree once provided, we facilitated an introduction for the creation of custom designed aluminum screens featuring a Pandanus-themed pattern. These screens serve as both a practical and aesthetic solution, offering privacy while paying homage to the area’s natural beauty.
