Creating simplicity in landscape design often requires the greatest level of detail and consideration. For this recently completed Palm Beach project, the vision was to transform the outdoor spaces into a refined, minimalist waterfront garden that felt open, functional, and perfectly connected to the home’s coastal lifestyle.
Designed for a young family who love to entertain, the landscape needed to maximise usable lawn space while creating a seamless flow between the alfresco area, pool and waterfront surrounds. Strong angular lines were introduced throughout the layout to create visual simplicity and a greater sense of openness, while still allowing ample space for children to play and guests to move effortlessly between outdoor zones.

subtle design details that elevate the space
While the overall aesthetic is intentionally minimalist, it’s the smaller details that bring warmth, softness, and personality to the garden.
Curved concrete steps were introduced to soften the strong architectural lines, while carefully selected poolside and waterline tiles enhance the home’s relaxed coastal palette. Mesh screening panels provide privacy while allowing for the introduction of vertical greenery, helping soften boundaries and to create a more immersive outdoor experience.
These subtle design elements may feel effortless, but they play an important role in elevating the overall atmosphere and functionality of the space.
sculptural planting with coastal character
The planting palette was approached with restraint and intention to complement the contemporary architecture while still creating softness and texture throughout the garden.
Large white feature pots containing mature olive and citrus trees were strategically placed to create focal points and strengthen the connection between the alfresco spaces and surrounding landscape. Space for potted herbs was also incorporated to complement relaxed waterfront dining and everyday family living.
At the front of the property, a statement pot cluster featuring sculptural coastal planting and a mature olive tree creates an inviting arrival experience and immediate visual impact.
